The Ward family has been in Balsam Lake, WI since 1953 when Richard and Mercedes Ward bought and opened Ward’s Balsam Beach Resort.  We have sustained a successful family resort operation, watching others around the lake shut down or sell off, for the last 57 years.  Although times have changed, our resort has enlarged, and our families have grown, we still rest on the same pride, integrity, dedication to service and care instilled by Richard and Mercedes.

The idea for CabinWatch came about after a routine check on one of the homes at our family resort on a winter day.  The hot water heater had let go and water was pouring into the basement.  We were able to head off the disaster and felt lucky to find it quickly, in order to respond prior to any damage.  We were amazed after sharing this story how many people experienced or feared the same occurence with disastrous results. After speaking to other lake homeowners and discussing the idea for our services, not only were our ideas well received, but interest seemed abounding!.  It only made sense to us, since we live in the community, to make ourselves available to do weekly assessments of our customer’s properties in the same manner we do our own and give our neighbors peace of mind while they are away.

At CabinWatch we offer our customers access to a list people and businesses we have enjoyed good working relationships with in the past.  Our resort consists of 8 cabins and 3 homes. In maintaining these properties, we have built longstanding, trustworthy relationships with contractors, vendors and professionals in the area. Our references have agreed to give our customers special pricing and deals in exchange for our referral service, but do not pay CabinWatch for a listing. We take the hassle out of finding the right service professional to meet the needs of our customers—we guarantee if we don’t use them, we won’t refer them!
